Just upgraded my PC as it was getting a bit long in the tooth. Put everything together and all was fine except for some random game exits (see thread in general forum)

Anways I ran MemTest and found some errors. Test 5 Showed errors in the same place after 5 runs. My memory was configured like this...

DIMM_A1.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (A)
DIMM_A2.........Empty
DIMM_B1.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (B)
DIMM_B2.........Empty

So I removed a dim to test the following

DIMM_A1.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (A)
DIMM_A2.........Empty
DIMM_B1.........Empty
DIMM_B2.........Empty

This produced the same 2 errors (albeit at different locations). So I then tried...

DIMM_A1.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (B)
DIMM_A2.........Empty
DIMM_B1.........Empty
DIMM_B2.........Empty

No errors this time round. So I tried this...

DIMM_A1.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (B)
DIMM_A2.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (A)
DIMM_B1.........Empty
DIMM_B2.........Empty

No errors this time round either!! Is Dimm B faulty? I can't understand why I didn't get errors in the last test though!??

The system is using default settings and is not overclocked! Settings from CPUZ before the first test were...

With the memory in the final configuration the system does seem more responsive. None of the pause when moving through folder (I am talking nano seconds though) but the manual mentions the first configuration is recommended for overclocking?!?

Any help appreciated.

No, it's the same sticks, you need to set the timings/voltages manually in the BIOS to make sure they run at the right speed.

Ok, not done that before but I'll have a look.

I ran the tests again but the the dims in the slots suggested...

DIMM_A1.........Empty
DIMM_A2.........Empty
DIMM_B1.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (A)
DIMM_B2.........Empty

Same 2 erros as before

DIMM_A1.........Empty
DIMM_A2.........Empty
DIMM_B1.........1gb Geil Ultra 6400 DD2 (B)
DIMM_B2.........Empty

No errors.

Dimm A has to faulty then doesn't it?
