Geil memtest errors

my new conroe system has been playing up since I built it, well rebuilt it as well twice and 3 new installations of windows.
Had 5 BSOD, page faults, but mainly Kernel32.dll errors. Some programmes when installed just wont load, Fear etc
running avp and kerio and thought it might be conflict problems etc

but just test ram memtest and it gave 18 errors in the first 1 minute lol, all of the order of values xxxxx do not match 3942760698 do not match 3942760666

What do I do now, stopped the test and then memtest crashed out to windows??

using orange slots on p5Wdh...2Gb Geil 6400 that Gibbo was harping on about ;)

edit. Dont quite get memtest, told me to run two memtests each with 839 megs. Did this for 20 minutes and got 327 errors in 1 of the windows.

Now running it in 1 window for the last 10 minutes and no errors so far, says that 1617 couldnt be allocated... ok 606% 0 errors doing 1 test...

god im confused

Thats great cheers minstadave thanks for the reply - this is getting a real headache for me!

When running memtest I get a message that it will only test 800 or so meg of ram and the rest is unallocated (some 1600megs), so run two versions at the same time. When I run 1 version its fine, running two gives constant errors.

I have programs crashing all over the place lol, or failing. Was going to get my old crucial stuff out and test it in the new system, and try each stick seperately ext - its just a pain!

everything looks fine in cpu-z and the bios etc

ok rab will do. Yep running two win memtests gave lots of errors in one of them - word mismatch errors etc.

As a side note I ran prime full stress test, lasted 1 hour and 7 minutes until I got an error message failed to load temp something or other

ok, If the Ram is faulty and I RMA it - can I swop it for another and pay the difference? eg the gskills HZ might appeal more and a bit peed off at getting dodgy Geil etc

edit. noticed this http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9660
I have kaspersky and hope this might be the problem - well hope but if it is can I get my 27quid money back for it lol!?

Geil memtest errors

Ok peeps ran all the tests. Geil PC2-6400.

Two sticks in orange slots. memtest gave 377 errors.

One stick in slot, gave 377 errors. Other stick in same slot 0 errors.

Seems I have a dodgy stick, the amount of trouble this has caused me in terms of setting up this system has been unreal!

so I presume I RMA and wait for another set - or change them to something more reliable - how would this work?

;oh and Minstadave and rab - thanks for the help - much appreciated, the ultimateboot cd is worth its weight in gold :)
