memtest - how do you do it?

how do you boot into mem test?

tried the iso and wont boot

then downloaded the thing to boot from the usb stick, however still wont boot up?? how do i boot from the usb stick?

Download the CD ISO but don't simply copy it to a CD, write the image with CD writing software. I use Nero and the 'burn image' option. Then set your system to boot from CD in the BIOS.

Use ImgBurn to burn the ios to CD, and boot from it.

You may need to change the boot order in your BIOS so that the CD/DVD drive is first.

hey, thanks for that - was using a program called iso burner which didnt work, tried magic iso which has worked a treat.

how many passes would you reccomend? already done 1 without any errors.

Not how many, how long. Usually 8 hours (so an overnight job) is recommended.

You can do it faster though as usually tests 5 and 8 are more sensitive. 20-30 passes of each = moderate stability, then you can wait until a full test is run overnight.

The number I've times I reboot when I'm overclocking and just hit c, 1, 3, 5, ENTER, 0 the pattern is engraved into my nervous system

Wrong memtest. That is very old. Go to www.memtest.org and use v 2.01 or whichever is the latest.
