Quick question. I bought some used ram from a cheap online auction site (ddr2, ancient laptop).

The computer was running slower after putting the 4gb ram into (taking out the factory fitted 2gb ram).

So I decided to run memtest and found 1 error. I will return these ram to the seller. Just have quick question regarding memtest.

Will memtest keep looping the test over and over again or does it do the test a fixed number of times before stopping and producing test results

does an error in memtest signify the ram is useless? the problem im having is that wqhen running memtest, sometimes it will fail and sometimes it will pass without any reported errors.

Additionally the 2x1gb ram sticks I had in this laptop worked perfectly fine, but I ran memtest and it reported an error.
