I've downloaded the lastest version from http://www.memtest86.com/ and unzipped the file that was in the zip file (memtest86-3.2.iso). Can I just simply burn this ISO to a CD and use it on boot up?

I'd recommend using memtest86+

memtest86+ 1.7 this was last updated on 01/14/2007 as oppsed to Memtest86 3.2 which was on 11/Nov/2004.
In response to the iso, yes just burn to CD and boot.
