Should memtest86+ run automatically? I have made a bootable CD. When I boot up the PC and it runs it I get a screen that says

Memtest86+ v4.10
Intel 3411 Mhz
L1 cache: 32k 113707 MB/s
L2 cache: 256k 51685 MB/s
L3 cache: 8192k 38763 MB/s
Memory: 8172M 16721 MB/s
IMC: Intel(r) Core ii-2600k CPU @ 3.40GHZ /BLCK : 100 MHZ
Settings RAM : 0 MHz (DDR3- 0)

728K e820 off

I do not see anything running testing the memory. I also do not see any options to start running a memory test.

This is a new build PC. I am runing an Asus P8P67 Pro. I have installed windows ok withouth errors. The PC was left on overnight to see if it crashed or reset itself which it did not. Windows is seeing all 8GB memory.

So how do I get memtest86+ to work or would you suggest a better memory testing program?

It should automatically start and look like this and you'll see a timer and the tests it's performing. Any errors will be listed in red.

I'm not sure, maybe try running with 1 memory module at a time. Usually you'll get red errors if you have faulty memory.

It'll load the program into memory so you can remove the cd. This helps if you have lots of memory that takes ages to test. If you go away and the system restarts it will automatically start again without you knowing and end up in a reboot cycle.

If you have ecc memory turn it off in the bios as it rectifies the fault before memtest picks it up
