505 Games, 1C Company, Best Way and Digitalmindsoft announced that a multiplayer beta test will be launch for the upcoming RTS game Men of War.

Men of War takes place during the height of World War II. The story unfolds across three different campaigns played out through the eyes of Soviet, Allied and German soldiers. Each campaign has its own structured timeline, telling a different story of WWII spanning across Russia, North Africa, Ukraine, Greece, Germany, Italy and the Pacific. The main Soviet campaign sees two student comrades, Smirnov and Kuznetzov, join the army and quickly become brothers in arms as they rise through the ranks and experience the rigours of war.

You can tell they've done so many ****ing WW2 games that they've run out of naming ideas.

Considering theres far more games based on modern combat i dont get why ww2 games have this stigma that theres too many of them...

WW2 game: pick your garand up and shoot them germans during Operation Market Garden.

Modern warfare game: varies enormously, because of the variety of conflicts in today's world both recent and immediate.

HUGE difference. Every WW2 game is near-identical, generic and extremely formulaic and by the books. There just isn't any variety in it, the dead horse has been beaten to a bloody pulp.

Very simplistic way of looking at it since theres numerous operations of ww2 that havn't been touched yet. British russian and american all have operations that could be made into a ww2 game. Cod series though probably gives the best scope since its not strictly based on one army.
