Lads,

Where do you buy your formal shirts from? mine are becoming outdated and boring and need a new work wardrobe.

I get mine from Next, though I think the next batch I'll buy will be from either Zara, TM Lewin or Moss. The Next ones aren't what they used to be.

Wherever has offers on. HOF have a clearance sale currently. I once bought a shirt from Primark because it was slim fit...was as thin as tissue paper though. Needless to say I won't be buying from there again. Next are overpriced IMO. You can often get some good deals in suit hire shops or outlet stores, M&S for example.

I bought one shirt from TM Lewin but wasn't completely happy with the quality, and the fit of the slim wasn't slim at all! Returned it and bought some 'tailored' (extra slim) shirts from Charles Tyrwhitt and am much happier.
Sometimes M&S, and Debenhams for cheaper shirts.

Another vote for Charles Tyrwhitt, I went into the store on Jermyn Street, test fit a few things and bought a couple of items, now I know how their sizes fit I just order online when I want something new.

Moss Bros (do lots of sales 3 for 2 etc)
TM Lewin, however I don't particularly like their material (thinner and needs lots of ironing) compared to CK shirts and shirt materials used by the other Jerym Street venders. They are cheaper though...

Depends really on what shape you are. If slim fit the best shirts I've found that are truly for the slim person are Calvin Klein (CK) shirts (see Moss Bros comment earlier).

Are their tailored shirts slimmer/longer than TM's "Tailored" range (the actual slim fit range, just more expensive for less material...).

TM Lewin get my vote. Had my work shirts for 5+ years and still look new. Bought another one a few weeks ago and do agree with the above that the quality isn't as good as it was, for the money they aren't bad IMO.

Double Two are pretty good for the price as well.

Just be sure to get measured for collar and sleeve length as makes a big difference.

Next has gone bad imo, the current range is poor.
M&S is rather rubbish also, clearly a lot of people think the same as their clothes sales has dropped a lot this year I think

I have used a lot of them. Findings are as below (worth noting I like a nice slim-ish fit being the bit of a gym rat that I am) :

TM-Lewin: Good fit but terrible to iron and generally do not last. Of the 4 I bought about a year ago I have 2 left and one of them is well on its way out. I suspect the other has lasted as it's pink and I don't wear it overly often.

Hawes and Curtis: Good fit, Hardest wearing of all I tried but not as nice a feel to the material. A bit hit and miss on how nice these are to iron.

M&S: Quite costly when buying the non-iron more premium shirts (sartorial and ultimate) Reasonable fit, nice to iron and generally pretty good. Cost is the prohibitive factor here. If only they did multi-buys like everyone else.

Charles Tyrwhitt: My fav. Fit not as good as others even whilst using extra slim fit but don't get me wrong it's nice enough. Nice material, good to iron and reasonable value with the multi-buys. Like their cuttaway collars too. I now buy my shirts from here.

PINK: lol don't even go there.

TM Lewin ones are pretty nice, also if you're buying in bulk why not jump on the train at St Pancras, head to Ashford and visit TM Lewin outlet? I've snagged quite a few bargins whilst I've been living here. There's also a few other good places in the outlets too.
