Friend of mine has an E240. It's recently had the battery replaced and now some of the electrics are on the fritz. Symptoms include:

Windows not going up properly (go down fine)
Engine cutting out
Not starting

I figure it's something to do with the computer, but I know nothing of these modern things, the most technologically advanced thing in my car is the CD player! Any suggestions/ideas?

When you say not starting, does the car crank but fail to fire? If so then it is likely that the starting and cutting out problem is down to the crankshaft sensor, very common problem on MB of this era, infact my S exhibited the same problems after a new battery was installed.

Thx for the reply, not sure quite what the starting issue is, not experienced it myself, window solution sounds promising though, will get him to try that :) Thx

As 117 said, likely to be crank position sensor with the engine. Best to get the codes read though, if it shows nothing then it may well be that, as the CPS doesnt throw one.

I actually had to have the crank sensor replaced earlier this week on my S-Class, the engine would just keep stalling and failing to start.

Windows probably just need re-programming as per that link.
