Sorry, just saw this, none are a realistic option for her anyhow and besides that, i'd be envious and make her drive the XC60 most of the time lol.Keep in mind the A45 is more akin to an RS3 than S3 and probably the M2.
I had a GLA for a courtesy car when mine was in for a service and will confirm everything said here - it's an absolutely dreadful car. Gutless engine (200d) and whilst the interior (which it shares the majority of with an A class) looks ok, it feels awfully cheap. We have a GLA... Which is a tall A class.......In a word its ****.... Harsh ride, Squeeky interior, Noisy engine (220d) wind noise...
I can understand what you're saying if your Mercedes experience has been limited to vehicles on the A class platform. Try anything on the C and E and you'll be much happier, I'm sure.YMMV but thats the last Merc I think we'll ever buy...

I'd go for the 1-series all day everyday - and this is coming from the owner of a C Class. The A really brings down the Mercedes brand. It's obviously built to a budget and it shows - even though they're by no means inexpensive cars.

They're all a step down from the 5, the real choice is a car that my wife doesn't blame me for if anything goes wrong! She has settled on the car and I sorted the price. I've agreed £19.3k with Listers so that's my part done. I'm sure I'll cop some flak here but keep in mind it isn't my car.
Thanks, the equivalent (ish) model is £25.4k in your link with similar spec albeit a slightly different engine. The budget was always £20k so wouldn't want to stretch above it really. We've agreed the price and the car arrives on Friday.
Thanks for all the input, if there are any issues I will just tell my wife she should have bought a 1 Series and then duck!
It has Apple Car play so should be fine. COMAND in the 16+ plates seems to be rare, presumably the screen upgrade negated the need to select COMAND for many buyers.Fair warning, if for some reason the car only has Audio 20 CD including Garmin Map Pilot, and not the COMAND Online, it is a complete bag of dog ****. Programming a simple route takes an age, and since there is no Android Auto/Apple Car play support, then you are stuck with it.![]()

Car Play and Mirror Link. I believe it can do Android Auto and am just researching how to enable it.....Pheeew... and I mean that! Without AA/ACP then that Navi systems harks back to the cheap nasty ones from Argos in the early 2k's![]()
Due to dieselgate the A200d was an option as they are cheaper than the A200 but her mileage just didn't justify it. I personally think the interior is good but will see soon enough when we live with it. Delivery is Friday. My mother has just bought pretty much the same spec as in the OP for £18K. Has done 20K miles and for my mother it's perfect.
I would say the interior quality is lower than I'd expected for a Merc but not too bad. Seats are nice, engine is a 4 pot diesel so never going to sound particularly refined.
