Hey guys just thought I would share some pictures of the last time I visited Mercedez Benz World which is about 5 minutes walk from me!

They did have the MP4-23 for a while but sadly they took it away and replaced it with the MP4-22 :(

I've been to the MTC a few times (my dad knows a couple of people who work there, and so we occasionally get allowed to have a tour), and I can definitely say it is very impressive and awe-inspiring to see F1 cars of old (well, McLaren's F1 cars of old :p). Sometimes you can get a brief glimpse of a current car, but it's usually in pieces or partially covered up. Their trophy cabinet is also pretty awesome -- it's pretty much a massive corridor with trophies going along both sides of the wall. Oh, and the building itself is something else.

Sadly they prohibit photography while there (understandable), so it's a shame I can't show you guys what hardly anyone else gets to see.

Thanks a lot! That's really interesting, I just took it at face value that it is the w01.. i'll have to take a closer look next time i'm there! I do see that the top of the air intake is a completely different shape actually...

very very observant Spunkey!

probably an old honda

It certainly isn't a Mercedes and it's not even a Honda.

It's the 2001 BAR-003 with a new-ish front and rear wing and the flipups removed.

The exploded car is an old BAR-005 though. IIRC it was the one at the F1 design exhibition a few years ago in the Design Museum in London. I do love the bodge they've done to it though. Change it to a V8 engine, Ok fine, but leave the V10 exhausts? ;) *EDIT - errr.... the original version of this was at the design museum, but was a Renault... Oops. Same chap though*

Sadly, that McLaren isn't even the MP4-22 - it's a Raikkonen/Montoya era MP4-20

I'm going to go away and stop being such a geek.

Very few show cars are true chassis in the correct colours. Beaulei museum has a 2007 McLaren in Buttons 2010 livery, for example. Still nice to see the kit up close though.
