I have come across a mercury tilt switch when disposing of an old door bell. Any suggestions on how I can get rid of this safely? Bristol and South Glos council sites have yielded nothing useful.

To quote an old member who's name escapes me....

Put it through someones letterbox and shout "Are you John Connor?"

I would take it to the council tip and put it in with the flourescent tubes. Check with the guys there to be sure (I doubt they'll know to be honest!).

Where do you work? Do they have a hazardous waste disposal process you could use?

unlikely lol

Fair shout, I'll do that at the weekend.

Funny that a doorbell here has a mercury tilt switch. Growing up in NI I once tried to get one for a technology project. It took about 3 months to get clearance lol.

youve seen the youtube stuff "will it blend"
i propose you start a new trend.. "will it go nicely on a Pizza" then eat it.
