Have been a Merrell MOAB (Ventilator and mid-height boot) fan and daily user for a long while now, but the quality appears to be on the decline as my most recent pair started coming apart after just 2 months.

Looking for suggestions of alternatives in the same price range.

How can we tell you what shoes to get. Go to a shop and try as many as you can on, get the ones that fit best. I try them all on make a short list of the best few then head online to see if there are any issues with any of them.

Sadly Merrell quality doesn't seem to be quite what it was - still better than most though :(

I've a pair of trainers made by them from 2014 that if I clean them up look almost as good as new though there is some wear which is why I replaced them - the replacements in a few months have worn as much as the older pair did in several years of abuse and aren't quite as comfortable or as well made looking - though it is still close - I also bought another pair to have as a spare as I like this style and likewise they aren't quite as good as the original.

I really hope they get it back to the quality it used to be - it is sad seeing so many brands decline into second rate tat these days while prices are ever higher.

On a related note sort of think I'm gonna stock up on jeans as the brands I'm buying at the moment are still good quality but no doubt in a couple of years or so it will be the old story of ever thinner material, poorer quality stitching, etc. etc. :(

If they are coming apart a couple of months merrel will replace them.

This. Last pair I had from them were the Trailfrogs about 10 years ago after my Ventilators fell apart. I wear Salomons these days and are super comfy, last about 3 years with daily wear

Had my MOAB GTX boots now for about 5 months of daily use including 8hrs of outdoors stuff per day and mine have stayed together very well so far. However, should they fail I'll be looking at Salomons myself.

I'm using the Salomon 3D Ultra-X with GTX at the moment. Last pair weren't lined and were a delight in the summer.... but too much rain etc. made me buy lined this time. Would recommend
