Merry Android Christmas

The statistics, which show the Samsung Galaxy S II as the best selling phone, are based on a sample of 5, 377 UK mobile phones sold online across major UK retailers and networks in November.

Its nothing but an average taken from a very small sample of handset sales, which to me basically means nothing.

Its early days, and i'm just messin' - however I have yet to see any family, friends, saw 1 person at work (big building) or even people on the street with one - i'm talking wp7 let alone a nokia one.

2012 hopefully should be a big year for wp7 and nokia.

Hoping W7 really takes off next year. Can't see them being that popular with the general public for a year or two but fully expect them to make a big impact on the business sector. Android and iPhones are my enemy at work

It's much harder for a new device and mobile OS to take off when you have 2 very established power houses already running the show and with an absolutely gigantic userbase.

I don't think it (WP7/Nokia) will pick up to any level that would cause concern to Google or Apple. They will just fight amongst themselves forever more.

If it picks up in a year or two then it will be too late still, Android will have gone beyond all expectations and will be several versions ahead of ICS and Apple likewise.

I replaced my WP7 handset (LG Optimus 7) with a SGS2. And I am missing WP7 so much, i'll definitely be jumping ship when I get rid of this SGS2. Made a mistake switching over I think. :(

If W7P wants to pick up they need to offer better contracts.

I really tried to get my wife to get a W7 phone this time around but we wouldn't spend more than £15 a month (2 years) with a decent number of texts/minutes and some data (not a lot). Well the cheapest was the Lumia surprisingly seeing as it is their flagship but I couldn't find any better contracts for the other HTC phones or even the Samsung and LG ones, they were all £25 plus.

I made the same switch and the sgs2 is easily the best phone I've ever owned. I have owned a couple of android phones before though.

The phone itself is light years ahead, and so are a lot of apps on android.

I can't really put my finger on what it is about WP7 that I prefer, but I miss it badly. That's not to say I don't like android, however.
Also, I don't care if the YouTube app is rubbish, because Lazytube is the best YouTube app I'm come across.

I know a lot of people that prefer the minimal/metro approach of WP7 over Android. I like it a lot myself.

It's a bit too close to the iPhone though unfortunately and they are going to have trouble eating into Apple's sales (despite being cheaper).
