Whats the word on Mesh PCs?...any good?

I was looking at the Gamer Vantage Plus system on overclockers (upgrading to a 4GB memory, + keyboard, vista 64bit and a samsung 22 inch monitor) for about £1200

Yet a Mesh Xtreme GTS Quad Pro (although slightly slower processor speed), you get a 1TB hardrive (only 500GB on Gamer Vantage Plus) and a 24 inch monitor for slightly cheaper...

Whats the better deal here? Are there any important factors that I am missing?

Oh and by the way... the Mesh has 4GB memory over 4- 1GB while the OC has 4 GB split over 2- 2GB drives...does this make a difference?

Cheers!

Firstly, don't mention competitors. This thread will get deleted..!

Secondly, don't bother with them. The company has the WORST SUPPORT ever. There is absolutely no reason to buy from them.

Get the ocuk system although may seem your getting a better deal for less with the other company the parts inside it more than likely wont be as good as the stuff thats in the ocuk system :)

Just by the parts individually and then build it yourself. By writing on this forum you must have noticed all the guides and there are plenty of people ready to help you should you need it.

also, the psu wont give you much room to upgrade. their ram may not be as fast. the mobo probably wont let you OC. and we dont know the quality of components.

The Mobo will most likely be locked in some way, the memory will be uber cheap stuff, and it'll have the standard intel cpu cooler. With the OC version you can be pretty certain that better qaulity parts are being used, if you build it yourself you can pretty much garantee it, and probably save a bit too.

I've had a couple of Mesh PCs (an Athlon 700 and an A64 3200) and neither had a locked motherboard, so unless they've changed their policy, this shouldn't be a problem.

Would agree about their support though; weren't they on Watchdog last year because if it?

Agreed. Then you know exactly what you're getting and you learn a lot in the process. Plus you get a warm sense of satisfaction. :D

Oh and regarding the memory being split over 2 or 4 sticks, motherboards usually come with 4 slots. If your PC comes with all used, you'll have to remove a couple of the existing sticks to upgrade.

OCUK sytem for defo...if you aint going to build urself..i think the ocuk systems seem to offer good value..although a little more customisation options would be nice, such as x38 mobo's and 3870x2 gpu's,might even possibly tempt myself into getting a pre-built rig
