Mesh system or New Router and Bridging mode

Suspect my isp is throttling at weekends as its always live sport events that I get buffering and stuttering, thought it might me my isp throttling and was going to purchase my own router to see if that made any difference when my Isp informed me that I am locked to their router but could use a new router if they put theirs into bridging mode.
I was at a friends recently and they have installed an eero 6 mesh system into their existing router, not sure if that would be a better option for me rather than purchasing a new router and getting my isp to link it as a bridge, I live in a ground floor apartment and my Wi-Fi signal is usually okay in every room and on my terrace so not sure if a mesh system is the way to go.
This is a little bit out of my comfort zone so any advise would be really appreciated
Since changing my router password and kicking off my intruder who had 5 devices connected to my system without my knowledge my internet has been a bit more stable but still not as good as it was.
Thanks for any advice

If you live in a apartment I suspect the Wifi channels are all pretty well utilised. Back when I had a flat this was definitely the case. I would start be getting a free mobile app that can do a wifi site scan (show you all the wifi activity locally), see if all the wifi channels are already overlapping with your neighbors routers. If so then getting a Mesh system which actually generates even more wifi traffic wont help.
Have you tried used a wired connection ? this would tell you if the issue is the ISP or the wifi, if the wired connection is good, then you can start looking at options, if its no different to wifi its the ISP and buying new hardware, running bridging mode etc isn't going to help.

I am using a wired connection via ethernet but I still get them same issue at weekends, I have spoken to my isp who obviously deny that they are throttling but i suspect their servers cannot handle the amount of subscribers they have.
So it looks like i don't have any real options left, but thank you for your suggestions much appreciated

If your ISP are throttling then it won't be done on the CPE. No change of router will help that.

You’re in Spain, it’s not a country famous for its high quality connectivity, and you are presumably pulling sports streams from the UK. Routing, peering, your actual connection speed and the source of the stream all come into play, but if you are already using a wired connection, then swapping CPE such as a new router of mesh set-up won’t fix that. If it’s a routing/peering/bandwidth issue, you could look at a different domestic provider or even something like Starlink. Realistically, a better quality of stream from a provider set-up to service Spain is probably a good idea, assuming that’s an option.

I get my streams via my iptv supplier, who is not based in either Spain or the UK. I suspect it's an issue with bandwidth via my isp however competition over here is not like the UK and sadly there is no alternative to my current isp.

If that’s the case, then Starlink would be my suggestion, it’s not that expensive, has decent enough levels of bandwidth and will work almost anywhere. I would also try and find a provider who caters to your needs domestically, it’ll remove several variables.

Will have a look at Starlink thanks
