Mesh wifi. Do you still need a modem?

Hi all. Just starting to update my wifi system. I have the BT hub at the moment and the wifi is not the greatest so now looking to a good upgrade and I see that there is a mess system! Do I still need the BT hub or can I just plug a mesh system into my phone line?

Usually you connect the mesh to your hub.
