I tried to use Daemon tools to load up cd's for a game, and now I've uninstalled the whole program it's left a giant footprint on my system.

Basically my second drive which was the D:, has been labelled G:. I normally wouldn't mind, except that a lot of programs and shortcuts link to "D:", and this is a pain the arse. Nothing else is labelled D:. How do I change it back?

Screwing around with drive letters has been known to cause data loss, and i've been caught once with it before.

Lost about 140gb of data, nothing i can't get back but still a pain all the same. If you value the data on the drive, back it up first!.

Weird. Never had that problem before. Was it accessing the partition at that time? Surely windows will close any accesses to the drive before the drive designation change.

Done it a number of times in the past and been warned by others but never lost anything, it was a one off, and i wasnt happy to say the least.

Done it again since with no problem, but i still wouldnt risk any data i value knowing that it can happen.

Thanks for your help. I'll look into it now ;)

edit - Problem solved. Grr....Are there any other equivelents to Daemon Tools? I installed a free version of it to ensure I never need my cd-roms to play games, but that failed as well.
