messenger 11 wont close

just installed the new windows live 2011 blah blah.
when i close messenger it restarts itself and sits on my task bar (not the little messenger icon).
next to where u can see webpages open on the taskbar. i've closed the process via task manager but no it keeps rebooting. :mad:

Windows Live Messenger is a terrible terrible program, all told.

try Pidgin if you like "lightweight" or Trillian if you want features.

I can vouch for Trillian - I used to use that back in the day ...awesome program! Never understood why people would want to use standard messenger when that was available!

Are you using Windows 7?

Try setting the compatibilty options on the messenger file to Vista Service Pack 2.
