I've been using Messenger 6.2 for ages now because I much prefer it to the newer 7.5 for various reasons.

I foolishly let someone use my machine this avo and they said OK to upgrade me to 7.5, which is very annoying. I've downloaded 6.2 again from the MSN website but it won't let me sign in, saying I HAVE to get 7.5.

Is there any way around this?

Have a look in Add/Remove programs and check the "Show Updates" box, it might show under Windows updates.

If you can get 7.5 working, use the mess.be patcher to customise MSN how you want.

It shows ok and I can remove it, but when installing 6.2 again it won't let me sign in, just says I have to upgrade to the latest version.

Cheers, will give that a try. Although why you can't just use the version you want is beyond me, I've been using 6.2 since it came out with no trouble at all, I just refused the upgrade when it was offered every 7 days.
