messenger not working in w7

i am unable to log onto my hotmail account using msn messenger in w7 can anyone advise ? . i am getting an error code 8e5e0408 when i try to log in, but i am able to log in OK using another pc and i can access my emails on the website.

1st page i found said:
1. Hit "run" in the start menu
2. Type "regedit"
3. Open "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger"
4. Delete the folder called MSN Messenger
5. After this MSN Messenger Live will login as normal.

yes we googled and tried a number of tips we tried the regedit one and it did
not work ?

TRIED ALL THESE ON HERE WITH NO LUCK SO I JUST WENT TO
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\WINDOWSLIVECONTACTS
AND DELETED ALL KEYS FROM DATABASE AND ME FOLDERS BUT NOT THE TOP DEFAULT ONES. WORKED FOR ME ANYWAY
