Messenger Service Pop Up

After an upgrade which included mobo, PSU, GPU, CPU, ram etc and then a fresh install of XP I am getting a pop up entitled "Messenger Service"

Basically Critical error message!- Registry damaged and corrupted.

Now I know this is untrue because I have seen it before but I cannot remember how to stop the pop up. if someone could refresh my memory I would be grateful.

either get SP2, or go run, services.msc and then disable messenger service

SP2 is on the list, just making sure everything is stable before I add updates.

Also get some anti virus if you've put a Windows XP PC on the internet and it has no service pack at all installed !

Nod32 will be installed once, I am happy my upgrade is stable, it's been a long day

Should have made a slipstreamed XP cd would have been easer and quicker in the long run. Take a Look at Nlite you can add Service packs, updates, drivers, Other 3rd party software and SATA RAID drivers insted of having to press F6 at startup.

I did a format reinstall just the other day and from start to finish it took 2hrs max and that doing a full format (not quick) of a 100gb partition.
