hey,

Quick question. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reliable messenger app that can house both aol and msn contacts?

Thanks,

Tom

Pidgin indeed.

Quite nice. :D

TBH, I prefer it to the new windows messenger with its mouseover popup adverts, its lack of easy and simple menu layouts and other annoying bells and whistles. Used to be good, now is cack.

Pidgin.

And I agree with the above about what MSN/Windows/Live Messenger/whatever has become. The new features are just as annoying as the adverts.

Haha, well the A-patch guy has been doing it for years ("plox gief Islam a go it's really peaceful and great"... lol?). I sincerely hope it doesn't install any botnet software which spams all my contacts with random passages from the Qur'an... although the removal of adverts & bloat would still be worth it :D:p

I really like Pidgin. However every time I try a new version I just can't get it set up the way I want it. Perhaps it would be a lot better on a Linux PC than Windows?

Agreed. I know people will say that as computers become more powerful with more RAM and disk space it is OK for WLM to become more bloated but why can't Microsoft just make a basic messaging program like Pidgin or Digsby. :(

WLM + A-Patch = Win

(Just pay no heed to the random rants about Islam during installation :p)
Yeah. Love the Islam stuff. :D Am I right in saying the current WLM is quite hard to crack or whatever and so the A-Patch isn't as feature full as the previous 2 versions say as a result? It is about the only thing stopping me moving to WLM 2009 or whatever we're on now. If only I could get Pidgin, or Digsby for that matter, set up the way I want it. :) I think I'd need the webcam stuff sometimes so would still have to have WLM installed.

I might try and get MSN 7 working again, that was the best one they made I reckon.

I have been using Miranda for years and love it. You can make it as simple or complex as you like. Has loads of plugins and is updated all the time. I LOVE the tabbed messaging window on it
