Been having a weird issue with my Facebook Messenger app lately, figured I'd see if anyone else has run into this. I’ve been getting by using the web version for now, but for some reason, the Messenger app on my system just won’t open anymore. It used to work fine, I had the Windows Store version set to open on startup, no problems. Then, out of nowhere, it just stopped launching. It shows as running in task manager, its not behind anything, just nothing.

I’m not sure if an update broke it or what, but I’ve tried almost everything to fix it. I uninstalled/reinstalled it through the Windows Store, tried the desktop version from the official site, ran all my Windows updates, did a disk cleanup and optimization, even grabbed an older version from a file mirror site just to see if that helped but no luck. I also ran DISM scans to check if it was something OS-related, but that didn’t help.

At this point, I’m pretty stuck unless I resort to reinstalling Windows, which feels like overkill for such a small issue. It’s just so much easier to use the app when I’m dealing with clients that rely on Messenger (and sadly, a few do). Using it in the browser is fine, but I’ve had problems missing notifications if I close a tab or don’t catch them in time.

Anyone else run into this lately or figured out a fix? Would really appreciate any ideas.
