Messenger

For ages now I've quite happily used Messenger 7.5, mainly because I can't stand Live Messenger.

Every week it asks me if I want to upgrade and I tell it to bugger of and all is good.

Now however, it won't even let me sign in without installing Live Messenger.

Is there any way around this? I've tried installing it, then removing and reinstalling 7.5 but the same thing happens.

7.5 is very similar to the Messenger of old, and I have a patch that removes all the silly winks and nudges.

Live Messenger looks kinda Vista like and doesn't really float my boat.

If no one can suggest a way around it then I'll check out the patch you mentioned, cheers.

Not pretty really because you have to replace the exe etc, but still.

That's worked a treat, only problem now is that I can't use MessPatch anymore to get rid of all the crap.

Why couldn't they just leave it/us be?!
