messing about with partitions...

so here's what I have:

the 50gb free space was an ubuntu 10.4 install. but I have decided to stick with 11.4

How do I go about making that empty 50gb partition part of another partition (preferably the 46gb ext4 partition which has ubuntu 11.4 on it at present)?#

For future referance the program you probably wanted was gparted. Available in some repos as "gparted", as a standalone CD image, and bundled on some live cds (ubuntu certainly).

There are cli options, parted and fdisk. I still find the pretty picture a comfort when trying to work out if it's about to do what I intended or not though.
