A moment of reflection by Greg Kingston, on Flickr

To get this photo I pooled some water on my kitchen worktop and placed the bottle in it. I made sure I had a dark background and cleaned up some of the lighter parts in processing. Lighting was just ambient from the kitchen and then a Speedlight on the right side.

I took an earlier one without the background and, although the bokeh from the kitchen lights gave an interesting effect, it was a dull background. I like the dark background and how it interacts with the interesting label on the bottle, but I'm not sure about the lights in the reflection right at the bottom.

But do you know what? It tastes alright too, and that's the important thing :)

Is it me or is it much quieter in here now we're starting new threads for new photos?

The lights in the top of the shot are very distracting. I'd clone a lot of them out to be honest. A simple scatter of lights on the left would look nicer I think. Just make sure you match the cloning in the reflection :) The bottom of the bottle gets lost in the reflection/water though and I find myself struggling to see what's down there. That being said, if the light reflection wasn't there, I don't think my eye would be drawn there as much.

And no, it's not quieter because we decided to keep things the same as they've always been. If anything I think there have been more photos posted in the last week than I've seen in quite some time. There may be less individual posts and queries, but not images. I've been off work for 2 weeks, so have actually been looking here every day for a change :D
