Hey all,

I have a PSVR2 am I missing anything by not having a Quest 3s I'm tempted to get one to play the new Batman but I need more convincing to buy one as £300 to play one game is a bit extreme.

Cheers All.

I bought a Rift, a Quest 2 and 3, plus all the accessories just to play one game. So don't feel too bad about it.

haha, well if you put it that way.

But honestly I'm looking through the games it has seeing if it has anyother exclusives.

The mixed reality is interesting I'll be interested in playing in my own room if thats makes sense, also is the only difference from Quest 3 and 3s just the pancake lens? is it worth spending £200 more? PSVR2 doesnt bother me with the lens but I do like the OLED panel is has.

You're right in that the main difference is the pancake lenses which give almost edge to edge clarity, but it depends on what games or sims you play. If you're into dark atmospheric or space sim games then OLED is still very good.

I play a little of everything tbh, I think i can live without the pancake lens, I cant miss what I'be not had I guess, Saving £200 seems a no brainer.

For your use case the 3S is still a capable headset, and the fact that it's also wireless is another winning feature.

Think you sold me on it, I'll pick one up while the Batman offer is on.

You asked in your first post were you missing anything by not having the Quest 3. The Pancake lenses are what you are missing. You are missing the exclusives as well, but the pancakes lenses are probably the biggest reason to buy a Quest 3. Seriously, I wouldn't even consider the Quest 3s. Saying that you can't miss what you never had defeats the entire purpose.

If you are not getting the Quest 3, save yourself a lot of money and don't buy any Quest.

And just in case you aren't convinced yet. There are more differences than just the lenses. The Quest 3 has the following advantages over the Quest 3s

Larger FOV,
Better Pass through,
Less Bulky,
Higher Resolution,
Better IPD adjustment,
Has a Headphone Jack(the 3s doesn't)

If you are going to buy, get the Quest 3 and use a referral link to save yourself some money.

For me the pancakes made the difference between using the headset for just gaming vs entertainment as well.

Watching amazon prime for example on my quest 2 (same lenses etc as the 3s), was a struggle, since the lenses caused a lot of blur. pancakes give clarity across the whole tv picture. I've watched tens of hours of amazon prime in my headset in the last couple of weeks, and would now potentially opt for that over my 65inch qled TV for something I want to watch, rather than just sort of have on.

In addition, the 3 is a lot narrower, meaning it's going to be more comfortable as the weight is closer to your face, and thus less leverage. Helps with bigger and quick movements.

I'd sooner get a second hand Q3 as Craig R has suggested if budget is a priority. Bet you'd get a Q3 with some warranty left plus you have the Ebay guarantee for the same price as a new Q3S, but I am ok with buying used stuff (using common sense). Edit - don't want to come across as a Q3 snob though, the Q3S is great for the price, for £300 there's nothing better if buying new is a priority. Still gonna have a lot of fun on a Q3S for £200 less if buying new.

lets cut to the chase here, if you have a PSVR2 your ONLY upgrade path is PCVR which comes at high price

Plus in my opinion the PSVR2 is an awful headset - fresnel lenses with a small sweet spot and bad chromatic aberration and very distracting mura. No point in having an OLED if all you can see in dark scenes is noise.

Q3 is a far better headset apart from the LCD contrast and colours, which actually aren't that bad.
