Metaboli: Gaming on Demand

So technicaly you could sign up for 1 month download all the games you want then just cancel?
Stalker + Dirt + TDU for £12.95? or can you only play the games while you are subscribed....
Goes off to read the small print.

Can I keep a game, even if I cancel my subscription?
The game will stay on your hard drive, but you can't play it if you're no longer subscribed (whatever the reason). If you reactivate your account, you can launch all the games you've downloaded to your hard drive.

I guess not, but I wonder how they block the game from working, considering it says you can back it up to any media you want.

I still think thats a pretty decent price for unlimited access to those games, some realy good titles there, the only thing putting me off is I have a pretty low download useage allowence which in turn when I go over it will push the price of the games up a lot :( £1 per gig, if I had unlimited useage I would be signing up for sure :)

And another edit

Is your system only compatible with Windows XP and 2000?
Yes. Our system is currently only Windows XP an 2000 compatible. Therefore you will not be able to launch any of the games from any machine using Windows 98 or Windows XP 64. You may still browse the site however you WILL NOT be able to launch or play the games.

I think it's unlikely not to work on vista 32 but there is no mention of it, seems vista 64 is a no no though.

There are a few places doing this, you need to online authentication before playing game. When you cancel you cant play the games anymore.

I've been a member for over a year and think the service is worth it. I get to play games I normally wouldn't buy and they've also been releasing some decent games lately.

so you definatley cant back up the games or play them after you have cancelled the sub? its a good idea i think, i may just sign up for a month to try it out

From how I read it you can back them up but they won't work if you cancel your subs. They must put something in them that connects to the net and checks your sub status and just refuses to launch if you have cancelled. Must be pretty secure else it would be a very cheap way to get a lot of games, but I think they have priced it very well and you can pretty much gurantee you will get your moneys worth.

As I say, I just wish I had unlimited downloads with my ISP, there are a lot of games there I would love to try, and people say you can't burn through gig's per month legaly that just proves you can quite easily.

I used to have this service. It sounds great, but the execution is poor! You have to leave the web browser open, as well as a metaboli window open, and loading takes a long time to do. You cannot use mods or anything either. My game of Farcry was very limited in what I could do with it.

had it before, they only let you play the games while your subscribed. After that they don't work as you have to be logged in blah blah. If you like the games and like the price and have a quick line, why not? :D

Put it this way - It's around £12 for a month... That's around 2 - 3 cinema tickets varying at around 2hrs each - that's around 6hrs of fun-time :p
Seeing this, £12 gets you many hrs of fun-time :) Good deal in my opinion :)

i signed up for this site about 7 weeks ago. its all genuine and the games work perfectly. the only downside is you cant play the game unless your signed in on the site. so even if your subscription runs out you cant play the games no more.
