Metadata, how do I get rid of it?

I'm running Vista 64-Bit, and while I was searching my machine, I did a search for metadata.
I got a list of over 100 files (xml documents) in
c:\Users\user name\Documents\Downloads\Metadata

Well, when I click on 'open file location', I get "Location is not available, blah blah blah".
If I try to delete any of the metadata files I get "file may have been moved or does not exist".

They are mostly linked to .mp3s, video files, and some software. Most of which I dont even have anymore.

Why are these files there, why does doing a search of my system reveal them yet it says they dont exist when i try to remove them, and most importantly, how do I delete these files???

Ok, I realise that didnt make much sense.

Basically, Vista's search program is finding over a hundred metadata files (.xml files) in a folder that doesnt exist, and when I try to delete the files within the search program it says I am unable to because the folder doesnt exist and the files may have been moved or deleted.

How do I get rid of them?

Hope I meade it clearer this time :)

I think you have to delete the metadata files from the actual files themselves - there is probably an option to turn it off - but I don't use Vista, so I'm really guessing here...

The metadata folder does actually exist, it is just not visible - a bit like the NTFS metadata files.

EDIT: check out this

Is there a way to make it visible so that I can delete the files?

As for deleting the matadata files from the actual files themselves, it's not possible as the actual files (mp3s, avis etc) were deleted long ago, yet the metadata files have somehow survived and put themselves into this invisible folder.
