metaldetectingforum.co.uk

Minelab or CScope brands.

And most importantly a beard and wax jacket.

In all seriousness though I have actually thought about giving it ago, although put off by how hard it seems to get land to detect on.

yeah it does seem like a bit of a beard and wax jacket thing :P

i hear garrett is the way to go, but ill have a poke about on that forum and see

i know a couple of the farmers in my area so am hoping they will let me have a go

i was pretty into it at one point, but it began to bore the pants off me so i gave it up. I bought all my gear (over a grands worth) from joan allens. I did fine some nice stuff amongst the hundreds of old pennies, including a george the 3rd coin dating back to 1765.

I used to ove going metal detecting with my grandad. We had the crappest detector ever, and managed to find a few things, but nothing more exciting than an old penny. I'm kind of tempted to pick up a cheapish one and give it a try again, but not sure my pride will allow it.

Ah we have people all the time doing it along cleethorpes beach, They don't find much the locals find more one found a cut off foot about a year back :) Lovely place

lol, well im gunna get my self a garrett ace 250, and drag my bro around some fields

I obtained a metal detector I'll need to Google the brand as may be cheap and not very useful but thought I'd give it a spin this weekend. Might try a beach does anyone do this what have you found?

I found that sitting on the couch fapping to Rachel Riley is considerably more fun than waving a stick around in the hope it beeps at a 5p coin.

Make sure you have permission before you detect anywhere, you will need a crown licence for the beach, its free, poke about on Google

Look up SheDetector on youtube, also NH beach metal detecting. the 2nd one has great tips for when your hunting on beaches for gold rings etc. Hampton beach also used to be my local beach :)

i have that one, never managed to get to the beach though as it turned into winter. thinking of a trip to savana beach later in the summer though.

Last time I was at the beach, there was a metal detectorist in the shrub doing his thing. It was a miserable day, windy and very rainy. He looked miserable. I was miserable. And then I found a very wet £10 note half buried in the sand flapping away in front of me.
I suspect I had better luck than he did.
