Hideo Kojima, loudmouth and Metal Gear Solid creator, has started discussing his official plans for Metal Gear Solid 5, which will run on Kojima Productions' proprietary FOX Engine.

"About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you 'a favor' like in the last Metal Gear Solid," Kojima told IG Magazine.

To speculate on that point, IGN's Metal Gear experts don't recall getting people to give us favors in Peace Walker. Given that this is an interview translated from Japanese to French and then to English, something could have been lost in translation. It could mean earning favor, as loyalty played a role in the latest Metal Gear game.

Regardless, it sounds plenty like a Metal Gear Solid sequel, indeed, but outside influences could have a profound effect on Metal Gear Solid 5.

"I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution," said Kojima, "but we'll see."

Details end there, and Kojima said he'll be more willing to discuss Metal Gear Solid 5 "when the time comes." We know Kojima Productions started hiring for "the latest Metal Gear Solid targeted for high-end consoles and PC" this year, so explicit information could be a ways out.

Whether or not it will star Solid Snake is up in the air, of course, although Kojima clarified, "We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots."

I'm going to guesstimate this game will be another Big Boss story.

I honestly just can't see Solid Snake in another one. Let the old man rest please. :D

Seeing as Peace Walker was originally going to be "5", this is what I'm thinking where it could go.

Or maybe Kojima is going to troll us and give us Solidus Snake? :p

Possibly, I'd hope it's a sly nudge at a PS4 etc.
Although the PC has me confused? Afaik MGS4 didn't come out on PC, yet haven't other MGS's?
Kind of like Fable on PC. "Sure PC gamers, we'll give you the first game, take away the second, then give you the third".

Least it's not like Gears Of War ; Have the first game only, then buy a console to play 2 & 3.
 
Yeah MGS: VR Missions and MGS2: Substance had PC versions.

Having PC support in the new Fox Engine would certainly make things a lot easier should they ever release games on that platform in the future.

He came up with Metal Gear Rising, and everyone panned it because it wasnt a metal gear solid.

Seems they cant win.

Personally I loved 4. And can't wait for this. can't wait for rising either, Ninja Gaiden style ninja fun, with a hideo Kojima Spin?? yes please.
 
That's part of the problem if he thinks something called Metal Gear Rising is new :p.

Anyway, the times I've heard it being panned is because it's never been shown as much beyond a tech demo. I'm not saying kill the IP, there's no reason to do that while there's still mileage in it, but I would like Kojima himself to come up with something entirely new. He has a status as a visionary creator that seems less and less deserved the longer it goes on being earned off essentially one series.
 
Another MGS would be super awesome. Re-played 1-4 earlier this year with the HD Collection and they're all such fantastic games.
