so after seeing Jayztwocents video after his personal build and a few months later being upset about the temps he was/is getting it got me thinking - would the metal pipes make the system heat up more? my tubing in my case (soft plastic) doesnt really ever get hot or uncomfortable to touch and i can imagine the metal pipes get pretty hot.

Doubt it would make any real difference, if anything metal pipes might be better at radiating heat, though I suppose that might just increase heat soak inside your case.

Metal pipes will absorb the heat from the water more than soft tubing so will feel hotter. Any heat absorption increases the thermal capacity of the overall system so I would suggest metal piping would help cooling in a very very small way.

Now, if each metal tube had lots of thin metal plates at 90 degrees to the surface like a little heatsink?

Most of the channels have air conditioning and so set room temp to 18c, likely less which is where a lot of the difference comes from when the average room is 20-30c.

You would see some slight decrease with metal vs plastic tube due to metals far better thermal conductivity. But that difference would likely be quite minor.

Both my rigs use metal tubing for years, no issue here. The metal tubes get warm, but hardly scorching afterall, if your water temperature is getting really hot, then you have problems. Metal backplates get warmer.

Not watched Jays video, but as above, having used it for years now but also other types of tubing in tertiary rig, don't see any causes for concern.
