New tour/show is 'ing outrageously good. managed to get to the Sunday show down in London, the only date i could manage due to previous commitments, and it naturally involved extra parking/hotel/flight costs. have to say it was worth every penny.
on the other hand, the organisation from the O2 was shockingly inept, dunno what they were playing at but there were mega huge queues waiting to go in at the interval, resulting in some people missing the first 2 or 3 songs, and they did SFA security checks, despite having demanded people bring photo ID and the card that purchased the tickets.

Agreed 'ing amazing. I saw them on Sunday too, set list was awesome, and good to see a nice long set list too. Agreed worth every penny. Wish I'd got tickets for the Tuesday show too.

Agree on the organisation front. I bought two Unforgiven Experience tickets for £177 (as the standard ones were sold out), got to the venue at 1745, were told the doors wouldnt be open till 1800, so went and grabbed some food, went back at 1815, got told that the early entry included on my ticket closed at 1800????? Was never told this, and the only info I had was the 'Doors:1800' on the ticket and a text confirming the same.

Really unhappy about that, but not sure the best way of trying to get my money back.

Also didn't get the merch we were meant to get as they had run out....

I was there agreed. The security was both non existent and extremely slow. Got in about 19:45 and it was half empty didn't look like they got the bulk of people in till 20:15 so a lot must have missed the first 5-10mins it's a good thing they didn't start at 8 on the dot. More than an hour queing. Its a horrible venue and shockingly small for what I imagined.

Is it more comprehensive screening as a result of the Manchester bombing?
No, metal scanners but even the signs only said take out phone and bags. So of course every single person set them off due to keys/wallets etc. Then they where picking maybe 1in 10 for pat down, but the pat down was only for show and not done. So not only did they effectively have no security the delays where massive.

one of the few bands i'd pay big money to see again, just because their stage design is normally top notch and can be seen where ever you sit
was it designed this way here?

Yep stage in the middle, even had mini drones at one point if I'm not mistaken, late to ticket ordering so I couldn't have been any further away

Did anyone else think the sound was terrible for the first half of the Sunday gig at the O2 in London? I couldn’t hear a word or any of the higher end notes. Last time I seen them play there on the Death Magnetic tour it was the same. I wonder if it’s something to do with the central stage setup because I seen them at 3 separate locations for Death Magnetic and it was equally terrible, yet all of the earlier gigs I seen them play in the traditional setup were fine.

I've wasted money on about 20 concerts at O2 and regardless of type of music I can honestly say there is no seating anywhere at that venue that would give you anything but terrible sound experience. O2 was Millennium Dome and Millennium Dome was an exhibition tent with ability to host sport events, it was never meant to be good concert venue. Same goes for new Wembley Arena. I will not waste another penny on anything in O2 regardless of stage configuration because the room is just acoustically flawed.

I’m glad it’s not just me!

Athough the eye candy was impressive, I went there to hear the music and I can hear it better on my cheap ear pods or in the car.

Yup, been there twice to see Iron Maiden and once to see Pink (girlfriend's choice, not mine!) and the sound is dreadful. Won't be going there again for music.

Arenas like the O2 and Wembley arena are inherently crap for sound. Its basically a massive reverb chamber, which really doesn't help with the cohesion, especially in the low-mid and high-mid range. Then you have the additional factor of playing in the round, which makes achieving even coverage (especially low frequencies, their four corner sub setup was an interesting choice, and the phase/time alignment must have been a nightmare to design around in anywhere except the standing area) very difficult. Unfortunately, for reasons still not clear, these venues are not designed with sound in mind, there is next to no damping in the rooms. Believe it or not, having the arena full of people helps massively, when its empty during soundcheck it sounds absolutely horrendous.
