I am looking into options currently, for the best way for us to record inhouse training of staff members.

I have looked through various apps and various programs, and can't find anything that does just what I want.

What I need to be able to record is basically who did what, and when they did it.
It should be able to be updated with refresher courses.
It should be able to be searchable, so I can tell who has completed a specific course, no matter what date it was on.
It should also be searchable by person, so with adding a name you can see all the courses the person has done and when.

Am I looking at some form of access solution, in which case I don't have clue where to start, or would this be an excel based thing?

Advice is very welcome.

Access would be perfect, you could do it through excel but it'll be much easier using a database based solution.
Saying that it's been a long time since I used access so I can't help with specifics.

how easy would it be to generate a database in access that other members of staff could easily access and add both training sessions and staff members to

I don't want to be left in a situation where I am typing absolutely everything in myself at regular intervals, has access easy to use apps or forms which allow numpties to add data?

The easiest method would be to use something like camtasia studio or other screen recorder and record the sessions with audio mic recordings. Then name all the videos as with enough information to identify the people, sort them with folders. Then use windows search or other file search software to find what you are looking for. That would be easiest. If its something that I was selling I would suggest integrating it in to existing intranets systems and just link to embedded videos, which would require development to build the search and indexing pages.

Interesting, but I wanted to make a record of their training, rather than record the training itself.
A record as in a method to track and quantify who where and when, rather than physical data showing it being done.
