Metro 2033 Gas Mask Problem

hi guys,

So I'm playing Metro 2033 and the gas mask keeps bringing up condensation and my player starts to breath very heavily, I tried changing gas filters and gas masks but still the problem persists. Is there any solution to fix this?

you do have to change the filters when he gets a bit raspy and sounds like hes gonna die though.

If you leave it long enough he changes the filter himself when it degrades far enough.

You generally can't see by that point though. I would always change them before then - also because it gets super annoying.

Is it damaged? You might need to swap it with one from a corpse

all of the masks are cracked in the bottom left though lol.

iirc riskily taking it off and putting it back on really quick fixes it.

what key changes it manually? I've just been waiting for it to run out as I couldn't figure out how to do it, probably missed the on screen hint.

Tap G while wearing it to swap the filter.

IIRC some filters you pick and some masks are already low or damaged.

Ok cool thanks. Also, I haven't played it again since so it may be easy enough to find out, but last time i played i broke my mask (i think, looks like theres a hole at the top, and cracks everywhere), do I have to buy a new one now?

Gas masks are found all over the place on the floor/ontop of cupboards/on bodies. If the one on the floor is better than yours it will flash, you can hold down 'e' to do a swap.

Look at your watch as well, it shows you how much filter you have left.
