metro 2033 menu problem.

Bought metro 2033 for £5 on steam. All happy but iv not been able to play it.

The stat menu goes all funny. It goes into a small box in the top of my screen but i cant see desktop. When i start a new game it continues in this mode. Iv tried swtiching to dx10 dx9 and installed latest drivers and stuff but nothing seems to be working. Iv turned everything down to the minimum.

Any ideas?

Have you tried validating the files on Steam?

how do i do that?

at least i TRIED unlike some people. If you waited a few secs you would have seen i posted an in game shot. which clearly shows what i see

Right click on metro on steam list>properties>local files>verify integrity of game cache.

If there's any files missing/corrupted it will redownload them.

You might have to edit the resolution in the ini. I think that's pretty much where you do all of the graphics settings to be honest also probably more useful to check on the dveloper or publisher forums as they probably would have more incidents like this.

I had a similar type of problem. I used to have dell dock on the right hand side and it made the resolution weird and it flashed occasionally. I'm not saying it is but could be a background program open.

i have rainmeter in the background. ill try switching it off!

still not working.

seems if i put it in dx9 mode, restart it works fine until i select any of the menus then it goes into a small screen. If it starts up in dx10/11 it just goes straight to small screen once the menu appears.
I have a 460gtx running 1.38 cd drivers if it helps.

Probably too late to tell anybody this by now but 4A still haven't fixed it so here goes.
If you have an nVidia card then you need to turn off stereoscopic 3D in the control panel. I know it says it's built for 3D Vision but it apparently can't tell the difference between you having the equipment and not and runs it anyway if you have the setting enabled. Most games can tell the difference but what the hey.
