Long story buy basically I'm owed some money (£2500) but the person in question has just offered me their MGF instead. They bought it from a dealership earlier this year for £3500 but have yet to pick it up. It's a 1996, in white with hardtop and 29k on the clock. The HG and cambelt has been done earlier this year at the dealership.

Should I

A) Take the car and sell it? (is it worth £2500 privately?)
B) Take the car, sell the Mondeo and keep the MGF?
C) Just hold out for the money (which might take a while to be honest, it's been 6 years already that I've been owed this money!)

The car is currently located at the dealership in Surrey so I was also thinking of seeing what they'd offer me for it (that way I wouldn't have the hassle of picking the car up and selling it)

What do you guys reckon?

I've been waiting that long for the money I've written it off really so part of me thinks that I might just keep the MGF as it's like getting a free car. Shame it wasn't an MX5 really :(

I'd take the MGF, drive it around for a couple of months then sell it when Spring starts to appear.

Good plan. I guess I should cash in the tax and insurance on the Elise and Mondeo if I do that otherwise it's gonna get expensive having so many cars on the go!

I've just been looking on Ebay and it appears that it should easily sell for £2500 as it's had the HG, cambelt, has a hardtop and has low milage. I think I'll try to arrange picking it up asap, might even drive it myself for a few days, see how it compares to the Elise ;)

Drink plenty of coffee and a take a packet of proplus beforehand :p

Got none left. Just done 1000 miles in the Mondeo in the last few days, I needed them all for that.

Yeah, I'd already written off the money as it's been so long now that part of me thinks that I should just blow it on something silly that I don't need.

The Elise doesn't really need anything, apart from a trip to the Ring perhaps :D

Simple mathematics!

Elise + £2.5k = Supercharged Elise OR Exige. :p

If you can find me a supercharger for £2.5k then I'll do it, unfortunately the only ones available for the 111R are closer to £8k :(

What are the actual differences between the Elise 111R and the Exige in it's various formats?

Obvious bits are hard top, wider alloys, stickier tyres, different clams and a rear spoiler. Less obvious bits are suspension. Engine is exactly the same.

Nope, ironically it's actually slower than the 111R (only fractionally due to the extra weight)

It's basically supposed to be a track weapon I guess whereas the Elise is the soft topped road car.
