After reading a thread in the Pc games section about the best game intro i posted the intro for this, then it reminded me how amazing this game was, anyone else think this was the best MGS game? The story, whilst complicated was so unbelieveably epic, it had great characters, the music makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, i just cant get over how good the game was, for me the story and everything beat mgs3 and 4 hands down, prefered playing it the first one aswell. (IMO ofc :))

I wish they'd made more use of the Big Shell, it looks massive on the map at first but then you find out there are areas you can't access/are flooded etc, which means you're restricted to relatively few interesting areas with the same connecting bridges between each one.

Still enjoyed it nonetheless, especially when I played them all back-to-back about a year and a half ago. Really helped in picking up on some of the more subtle or confusing details, because it was all fresh in my mind.

The first game is still by far my favourite though, it's just fantastic.

For me 3 will always be the high light of the mgs games, I just couldn’t stand that blond bimbo and his girl friend :(

I didn’t find the game play that much of an improvement, that said the 1st mgs game i played was the remake on the gamecube so it might have borrowed from mgs2.

MGS2 was good but no way was it the best MGS in the series.

I think MGS1 was the best. MGS3 also challenges that spot. But MGS2 I think it he worst game in the series, maybe because of raiden and also because of the weird lame ending.

But if your talking about pre-release hype, then yeah I agree MGS2 was the best, it looked stunning at E3, and the trailer with the awesome score by Harry Gregson-Williams promised an epic game, but I think thats what ultimately disappointed so many people when it didnt really live up to that hype.

I remember ordering a DVD copy of the E3 trailer for MGS2 from Japan just so I could see it in higher quality (online versions were really poor in comparison).

Still a good game imo but not the best in the series, probably the worst for me.

I enjoyed playing MGS2 though I was dissapointed to not be playing as Snake. I thought it was a nice touch when you got to see your name on the Dogtag.

I couldnt take the story seriously though with the LaLiLuLeLo or whatever it was.

MGS3 is the best IMO I hope they re release it for the PS3.

I played this on the original xbox and thought it was great. The boss battles were nowhere near as good as the first (I can remember pretty much all of them from MGS1). Never got on with 3 and 4 was.. well it was ok.

MGS2 was amazing, im torn between that and the first one for my all time favorite game. I never played the 3rd one, my PS2 had died long before that came out. By the time I got a PS3 the slim ones were out so I couldnt play it. :(

I want to say the first was the best as well, but I think it might be purely nostalgia wanting to say that, I recently played it through again on the PSP and while it's still an epic game I don't think the gameplay of it really keeps pace with Sons Of Liberty or Snake Eater. Guns Of The Patriots is an awesome game too, thought I can see why people may dislike it, if I was to say it's cutscene heavy then I think that's an understatement, it's pretty much an interactive movie but I like that, and it's one of the best games I've ever played.
