Mic died, need new one.

Paid next to nothing from DX for my mic. It was OKish from what my friends tell me. Now it has died and I need a new one.

Willing to spend up to £30 if its good. not to be used for youtube etc, just want clear TS / vent etc. What should I get?

I use the cheap Zalman clip mike from here, works well

Having owned both that and the Speedlink SPES (and, incidentally, the DX.com clip-on), I can safely say that whilst both are adequate for transmitting audio, their sound quality is atrocious - as verifiable by the fact that I am frequently told how crap my mic is and that no-one can hear me in both TS and ingame (CS:GO).

Given this, I recently decided to upgrade to a 'proper' mic - I went with the Snowball ICE, currently on sale for a bit more than your budget. Failing that the ModMics are also an excellent choice if the mic will only be used for gaming.

Ah, that sucks. I was getting on fine with the DX one tbh. Never had any problems communicating. Hopefully the Zalman is at least as not crap as that one...

I used the Zalman for a time before moving to a desk mic. It was fine for me too, no complaints from friends on Skype, etc.
