For some reason whenever I use an online chat e.g. Yahoo Messenger or Skype, the mic is picking up any wav noise. So if i'm talking to someone and listening to some music in the background over headphones the person at other end can clearly hear the music playing. The issue does not appear to be the headphones or mic itself (Fatal1ty) but rather something on XP itself.
I have a dual boot with Vista and the problem has not occurred in that. I've even unplugged the mic and headphone from the PC and the person on the other end can clearly hear music being played. (Not just exclusive to music can be any noise created by the computer). The only way i've been able to stop it is to mute the wav volume bar in audio properties but then i can't use the mic or headphones if i do that.
For info the audio is onboard realtek chipset on the asus p5n-e sli.
Any help would be appreciated as its driving me nuts and i don't really fancy doing a fresh install of XP!
