I'm looking to get a Mic as my one on the headset I have is dying and awful quality but the headphones themselves sound pretty good so don't really want to get rid of them and the other day i used my brothers Blue Snowball is it? And it's awesome but it annoyed me that it was on the desk so can someone point me in the direction of one that would go into a stand thing and come over the top (Like in the video below)

Actually like this guys! This is exactly what I want

The catch is, I don't use it very often so don't want to spend a load of money on one. What recommendations do you have?

You can buy the stands for the Blue Snow ball just like in the pic you posted. I don't think OCUK sell them but the place in the AMAZON sells them. Just search for the Snowball and you normally get things that go with it. A pop filter and Boom arm i believe they are called.

I think a lot of streamers use the AT2020 USB condenser mic, at least a lot of the ones i watch use it, but unless you're planning on streaming and/or making a lot of youtube content there really is no reason to go for such an expensive setup. The mic itself is around £100 or so and that's without pop filters or stands.

I use a Modmic v4, which affixes to your headset and the quality is awesome and it's really not that expensive either!

I've got the AT2020 and it sounds great

Yeah that's a bit out of my price range to be honest, i've found one, it's £65 all in that's the shield and arm. Reviews seem pretty good on it. I just thought the snowball one sounded really good when hearing it back and liked the idea but not on the desk and they look cool mounted :p

Unless their is a better set of headphones for this money? I tend to break headphones a lot by running them over with my chair :(

That's what i dig about the mod mic, it just attaches to whatever headset you use, which makes it easier to use proper audio headphones instead of actual headsets, and doesn't make the mic obsolete if you break the headphones!

edit: although i will say this, it's not great with motherboard sound cards since they don't power it enough and it ends up rather quiet, if you use a standalone card though you're fine.

made my own 'modmic' out of a Speedlink SPES an old Xbox 360 headsets boom and a couple of rare earth magnets :D

That's my problem, I have no other need for a sound card and that's then more money! It is a good idea though, I'll have a look into it, maybe i could get a sound card from MM or something.
