Michael Schumacher won the Desafio Internacional das Estrelas kart race for the second time in three years by finishing second in today’s second heat.

Schumacher won the first race in Florianopolis yesterday and came in second today behind his former team mate – and event organiser – Felipe Massa.

Schumacher worked his way up from eighth on the grid, passing Rubens Barrichello and Indy Car racer Vitor Meira before catching Massa.

Massa and Schumacher spent the final two laps nose-to-tail but Schumacher either couldn’t find a way past or decided he didn’t want to deprive Massa of a home win.

Second place was enough to secure the victory for Schumacher. Vitantonio Liuzzi, who finished second yesterday, ended today’s race 11th after contact with Massa and a heavier collision with Lucas di Grassi.

Some good names there on the list, looks like he doesn't need the dodgy electronic aids to win ;)

Looks like Piquet did well :p

He was leading the first race..... then got overtaken.... and spun....

Then in the second he was in a good battle.... then spun.

Watched both on Eurosport. MS was by far the best, just cutting his way through as and when he felt like it. Good to see Massa back on form too.

Wouldn't be a race if Piquet didn't spin :p

First race was awesome, Schumacher passing Meira and Liuzzi on the same corner while they were scrapping with each other then waving to the crowd for 2 laps was hilarious. When was the 2nd race? I missed it :(

Following day, about 1pm. Schumacher played the same tactic again, passing Meira and Barrichello, then just letting Massa win.

The bodywork was a bit of a joke though...

Eh? It was mentioned on a few of the news sites a month or so ago when he when the McLaren rumours started.

My apologies. I thought it was a sniping remark that he can only used the neck injury as an excuse to back out of the Ferrari seat- which I have seen on a few forums.
