Having recently subscribed to Disney Plus I’ve been dabbling with the Mickey Mouse shorts (~4 minute cartoons) that Disney have been putting out since the early 2010s. Hadn’t seen them but were aware that they were in a ‘modern-ish’ style.

They are AMAZING. The humour feels very crisp and internet-age yet remains family friendly. Very silly and filled with joyous sight gags. The animation is stunning. It sort of feels like they’ve hired every internet animator from egoraptor to Harry Partridge and have adopted all that weirdness into something wholesome and classic.

The level of polish is sort of where you feel they’ve gone “this is our absolute premium product - we aren’t putting it out until it’s literally perfect”. It really shows.

Massively recommended by me. You can just put one on after an episode of any other show (as a pre-bed wind down) and have a really good time.

Anyone else seen these?

Yeah, me and my partner have watched them. They really are excellent, hopefully lots more to come!
I’m kind of astonished how many they’ve put out... think we’ve seen maybe 6-10 and there’s like 60!

Always a treat to watch something that you know has been a labour of love. Also great to see an updated take on Mickey and Co that isn’t nauseatingly twee. You get expressions like this which seem completely at odds with what I think of when I hear “Mickey Mouse”:

This moment with him coming over the wall had me laughing at loud for ages... still makes me laugh me now.

Haven't got Disney+ but it's looking like an inevitability with an alarmingly fast growing 18 month old. Nice heads up, will check this out when it eventually happens :p

Ah thanks @Zefan !! Oh and congrats :) I have to say, been really impressed with the content on there... also has The Mandalorian which you’ll love if you haven’t seen it.

@floatindolphin yes, it does incorporate some of that R&S visual wackiness but obviously MM is far more ‘wholesome’ (and nowhere near as crude). Yet, it’s not ‘forced cute’ and remains very funny. Very well pitched indeed to be enjoyed by everyone.

The animation is absolutely stunning btw.

Just a cheeky bump to say that there have been a couple of 'longer episodes' debut this week under the banner of 'The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse'.

I have no hesitation in saying that this easily the weirdest and most off-beat stuff that Disney has ever put out (that I've seen at least). I mean... look at this! This is what Disney is putting out as ‘Mickey Mouse’.

 :D

It's also the best. Bravo.

Super necro-bump of my own thread and nobody cares but…. My god. This show. It is so goddam good. It makes my cry in awe at how perfect it is.

I genuinely don’t think I have laughed out loud at anything so consistently at anything in my life. Just the ridiculous faces on all of the characters - they have so much personality.

I bow down to the gods that made this show.

Massive recommendation, if you watch any of them, to either the standalone ‘The Wonderful Summer of Mickey Mouse’ or the ‘House of Tomorrow’ episode of ‘The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse’.
