Micro ATX case for small gaming rig

looks horrendous if u ask me ;p
not to mention that the hole is slightly too big for the drive itself

Wait for the silverstone SG09 if you can - should be out by september.

If not, then I'd go for something like the fractal Core 1000, or the silverstone tj08e.

less. 26.35L puts it right under Tj08-e

Well that's not SO bad compared to other SFF cases - why don't you state that the actual case volume is that and then state that the handles make it bigger?

Otherwise you get people going around quoting the case size as 36L.

[Edit] Seems on the site you do. I was going based off information from when it was announced, it was said to be 36L.

Good point. But when I wear my fedora hat, and some dress boots, I do look 6' rather than 5'6" (I'm a short guy)...
26.35 liters without shoes or a hat. We could have compromised all the features of the case just to fit a mATX, but design, style, flexibility and functionality were all considered into the Prodigy. You can kiss the radiator and the heatsink support if it were any smaller (compromise).

If anything the chart shows how much space it takes up on a desk with regards to motherboard form factors and nothing about features, style, and functionality.

You can say the same with E-atx cases or XL-atx cases. Some cases the size of mid towers fit an e-atx/xl-atx motherboard, but it can't do A, or B, but a maximum of C.

Ok.... I am not sure what purpose quoting internal volume will serve. Because in the end, the overall volume is the space that'll be taken up by the case on someone's desk/floor no matter how small the interior is.

But just for fun, I'll list the cases again with only internal working volume

27.9 liters - SilverStone PS07/TJ08-E (Micro-ATX)
26.4 liters - BitFenix Prodigy (Mini-ITX)
23.5 liters - SilverStone FT03 (Micro-ATX)
20.1 liters - SilverStone SG01/SG02 (Micro-ATX)
19.8 liters - SilverStone SG03-F (Micro-ATX)
9.8 liters - SilverStone FT03-MINI (Mini-ITX)

This does not change the fact that the Prodigy is bigger than quite a few Micro-ATX cases and significantly bigger than typical Mini-ITX cases.

I think the concept behind Prodigy is pretty cool with its watercooling room and styling so promote it as such. There is no need to try convincing people the case is smaller than it really is. It takes up 36.3 liters of space overall as shipped and if people don't mind and like its features, then that's great. However there are other options that provide greater space savings or more component accommodations in similar size. So shouldn't our job be to provide accurate information for users to make their purchasing decisions?

Think of it this way. I could get a 5 seater SUV, or a 5 seater mini cooper. A same sized SUV, there are some vans that fit 7, even 8 (less horses). But mini cooper has 168HP, Inifinity FX45 gives me 320hp.

I completely agree with the amount of space it takes up. But there are 2 sides. Person 1 will look at ITX with space saving in mind. Person 2 will take a look at horse power in mind. If you really put 320+ HP into a mini cooper, you get a super car (ie: ferrari with 2 seats).

In the end how many of the cases with fewer liters, holds mATX, can put the so popular all in one coolers? or a CPU cooler 170mm tall? What is compromised for the MATX form factor, are these features a Prodigy provides. Internal and external dimensions are displayed on our site for users to give users a sense of what will be on their desks, or compare how small their case is internally.

hehe this thread is like having mommy and daddy arguing, i love both bitfenix and silverstone

i like my small cases i think its the way it should be, i guess it wouldnt of changed the shape of the prodigy much but i honestly havent used a 5inch bay in over 5years and all these companies are still putting them in,

i guess you must appeal to the mass market so maybe you have to for now, the only smart solution i saw was a modular case where you had a case just for the mobo and another you added on top for the 5inch etc, that looked awesome, tho expensive

from my point of view the quicker 5inch drives die out the better, no doubt both the prodigy and SG cases look better in black just because of these old drive bays but would look better still without them

i really think it should be optional soon...
