i can't understand why their still putting usb2 ports when 3 is backward compatible. especially on the flagship boards.

Hmmm, i'm trying to look at these and all i get is a white screen that says "too many connections".... I can't access the OcUK site at all. I can wait though :)

Because that's what the chipset provides, pure & simple. X99 supports up to 14 USB slots, 6 of which are USB 3.0. Further architecture changes would be needed to change that.

EVGA are considering an ITX version, ASUS have ruled it out and Shuttle are working on one to replace their X79 ITX, no idea what other manufacturers are planning on the subject.

Shuttle are likely to be the ones to watch, as they have as said dabbled in the past in this area, but i think their x79 board was only available as a whole system, and also ws over mITX specified dimensions.

Mini ITX version please?

I'll be very surprised if I see one, the space needed for the socket and four DIMM slots alone will severely limit specification and the feature set of the X99 chipset is in direct conflict with the ITX ethos.

Absolutely. I post more in hope than expectation.

Yeah it was slightly oversized for ITX but it would fit in any of the popular ITX cases, and with two 16x PCI-E slots (one slot cards needed for SLI/CF) and on-board MSATA slot it was pretty brimming with features. One guy did a water cooled build in a prodigy with two 7950's and a 3930K that was pretty sweet.

I considered swapping my RIVG out for one and a Corsair 250D a while back.

The M.2 port on the mATX board seems rather short. I cant find any M.2 drives you stock that would fit.

Are you planning to get shorter ones in ?

yeah i remember that, it was an impressive piece of kit, coupled to the other features it had, like the mSATA and mPCIE sockets, yo ucould build one strong system that was fully contained on the board

Now imagine that with M.2 compatibility !
