Right I am after a little advice on an alternative to a mac mini with a very simple use.
We are purchasing a new build home which has network cable throughout with a wall socket in every room. In our kitchen we are having an island installed and I want to mount a TV to the wall opposite for watching football, music channels etc.
As the house is finished I don't want to run any additional cables to get coax/Sky to it therefore I was thinking of a micro PC mounted in the cupboard below the TV as there is power inside that cupboard already and it would be a minor job to channel cables up to the TV.
The sole purpose of the pc would be to connect to the network via network socket/wifi then connect to the TV via hdmi, taking advantage of the web connection to log into Sky Go via Google Chrome and BT Sports. It wouldn't be used for anything else other than maybe itunes for access to our music collection.
My default choice was a Macmini as all our devices in the house are Apple but I wanted to understand if there was a cheaper solution as it seems a waste of a £400 bit of kit to do such a simple job.
Any thoughts?
