I like to record my gameplay, but I hate wearing a headset. There is just no bass, no shockwaves, the caged feeling of having your head in a torture device etc.
If I use the microphone of the headset and my speakers, it records things like radio messages once from the speakers and then from ingame sound, which produces some echo effect. This is usually not much, but in some games like ARMA: Cold War Assault, there is a 0.5-1sec gap between the speakers and the ingame sound recording.
It works fine if I play the sound through the headset, but then I have less fun playing a game.
Can standalone microphones filter background noise to a degree?

That Review sounds perfect, about it not being onmidirectional:

p.s. and no £100+ for a microphone
