Hey,

I have a Fatal1ty Platinum X-Fi soundcard, and a Fatal1ty headset. The diagrams all say to put the microphone thing into the flexijack hole, but when I do that, nothing happens and no one can hear me?

I'm not sure where to go as the card seems to work find otherwise except for this - it's annoying having to use a stage mic for simply Skype stuff.

Any thoughts? :/

Have you changed this setting ?.

Yeah, that's what my console looks like, but no sound from the Mic. My 'Sound' thing in Control Panel in Vista looks like this (if it helps):

Select the microphone in the windows control panel list, and then click the 'set default' button. It will then change from unavailable to working, and you should be set to go.

Hmm just tried it, but there's still no sound coming from my mic :/ (I've been using Audacity to check, and regardless of the 'input', it doesn't register any sound)

could be a mono-mic, some soundcards don't like them..

this is a stereo jack (has two 'lines' on it) http://farm1.static.flickr.com/121/305949194_b4efc7ba08.jpg?v=0

-answer = get a new mic :S

Seeing as he bought "Fatal1ty Platinum X-Fi soundcard, and a Fatal1ty headset" you would think it would work its made for that card!

Thinking try this....set mic as default in recording then go to playback tab click on speakers then properties.
Then go to the levels tab and make sure it's turned up and not muted.
The mic boost tab on my SB0460 is on plauyack > highlight mic properties then custom tab.

The way sound works in Vista makes no sense whatsoever. How they put 2 controls on 2 sides of the card loses me.

O'h and dont forgot to click OK THEN try audicity (restart it) as you cant change sound as such if you have an app using it in Vista.

Well, it's a stereo jack - and I have a feeling that it might be the mic that's buggered (it's a detachable one).

No luck I'm afraid, I'm going to try it on my mate's laptop when he's here next, and see if it works on his. Then I'll know if it's the Mic actually works.
