This is a problem I've never encountered before, whenever I go on Sound > Recording devices and select my microphone it gives me an error "Windows shell Common DII stopped working". Merely left clicking on the mic causes this crash and everything else in Sound seems to respond okay.
I did a fresh install of Windows which fixed the Dll problem, Mic still not working- then after installing a few things viola, the crash is back.
What's worrying is because I've never tried a Mic with my setup before it might be a faulty component I think?
Someone please provide some insight it's so frustrating.
